I created my latest poem, inspired by Dr. Maya Angelou’s Phenomenal Woman, with the millennial mother, wife, boss-babe and dream-chaser in mind. The poem depicts the familiar struggle of being many things to many people at one time, all while juggling self care, personal aspirations and the weight of responsibilities in a generation of ambiguous gender roles. Lead Empowerment and media outlet Madameniore to curate #WELEADPHENOMENALLY. The campaign is a call to action specifically to women of color to share personal practices to maintain mental wellness and dispel the mental health stigmas that adversely affect our communities.
