"I am most impactful
when I am transparent."
Spoken by Kathleen, is a creative art and social influence platform created by spoken word artist and author Kathleen Lewis. It is a celebration of vociferous positions, intelligent perspectives and enlightened compassion.
It’s foundation is the intimate expressions and transparent dialogue that illuminates insight, understanding, and personal development.
She is the creative voice that narrates the stories of the times and articulates the thoughts of those who share in passion but struggle to find the words.
JULY 2019 (MINORITY MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS) #WELEADPHENOMENALLY
I created my latest poem, inspired by Dr. Maya Angelou’s Phenomenal Woman, with the millennial mother, wife, boss-babe and dream-chaser in mind. The poem depicts the familiar struggle of being many things to many people at one time, all while juggling self care, personal aspirations and the weight of responsibilities in a generation of ambiguous gender roles. I had the pleasure of partnering with non-profit organization and Mental Wellness initiative We Lead Empowerment and media outlet Madameniore to curate #WELEADPHENOMENALLY. The campaign is a call to action specifically to women of color to share personal practices to maintain mental wellness and dispel the mental health stigmas that adversely affect our communities.

I often use an ice breaker at events centered around first impressions.
I acknowledge that we live in a society were judgement calls are based on physical appearance, attraction, projected confidence, body language, and social media profiles.
The feedback I receive today is far from the image I settled for as a girl. Its far from the confidence I lacked after divorce. I thought admittance of insecurities made me weak. I have discovered that my transparency makes me impactful.
I want you to know that your strengths and weaknesses are by design. A formula to assist with identifying your destined place. Allow it to align you with people, places and opportunities truly meant to be. I encourage you to take advantage of every opportunity to be vulnerable and share not because you always trust the receiver but because you trust the process.
