Spoken by Kathleen, is a creative art and social influence platform created by published author and performance poet, Kathleen N. Tolbert. The boutique of services include; mentoring, creative direction, creative marketing campaigns/advertising, content creation/collaborations, free-lance written works and creative writing/public speaking workshops.
I am a Houston native, graduate of Texas Tech University where I studied mass communications/Advertising and minored in English studies. I am a life-long athlete and earned the opportunity to attend college on a track and field scholarship. I am one of seven born to a young single mother who had to sacrifice personal aspirations and higher education for her responsibilities as a mother and wife.
I have accomplished many things; I am the first of my mother’s children to graduate college and own a home. I have also suffered loss and heartbreak which have shaped a uniquely relatable perspective; specifically for millennial minorities navigating times of unprecedented growth, information and opportunity, while often combating cultural, pathological and emotional dysfunction.
These aspects are important because I am also a wife and mother to a daughter, Ashtyn. I am passionate about using my voice, experiences, creativity and influence to inspire, encourage and represent the girls, women and dreamers that come from similar backgrounds with features like mine through bold self expression, vulnerable self-assessment and voicetress affirmations.
