2019 WAS GOOD TO ME..

Where do I start? January 2019, I found my wedding dress at the second boutique I visited (Ayyeee!!) we also began abstaining and attending premarital counseling. Both tried my patience (insert signature eye roll) and ideals about love&marriage. Many times I thought, how do we see facts differently? The sky is blue, that’s it!!!! My biggest take away/confirmation came from a recent read: Loving Him Well by Gary Thomas. (Wives, Must Read!) My intent for communication through counseling was to be heard and understood, the process and this book taught me to listen and lend understanding.

May 2019, Hubby relocates to Texas and bachelorette things with the crew in Tulum. Ashy also leaves for summer break with dad. This allowed for unrestricted dialogue and focus on just hubby and I, a first of its kind experience for us under one roof. I’m grateful we had the opportunity to do so before our nuptials. * Continues to Adjust*

August, bon voyage to Cabo to witness the Union of my sister Trina and Boye. Their wedding weekend was one of those, “ you had to be there moments, ” including a private boat ride up the coast, with members of the family who had not previously even left the country. We left there so excited to have our day among family and friends.

September, hubby is off for his bachelor party and birthday weekend back in Atlanta. ( *eye rolls* LOL) I was allowed to peek at the itinerary so my nerves were bad. Then boom! A reminder that life is short and the energy we can afford to give anxiety is equally as fleeting. My mom called me as she normally does on her way to work detailing a fall in the shower and inability to move for several hours. Her speech was slurred, I realized she had suffered a stroke. My family spent labor day weekend in ICU with her, only thinking of her and thanking God she was expected to fully recover.

October, my dad, who I did not see often in childhood but much more in recent years, was finally offered an opportunity in his PH.D field. The catch was, the opportunity was in Illinois, he likely would not make it back to be present at our wedding. I have mixed emotions about his absence; I am most familiar with it but still wanted to look out and see him smiling.

November, 3rd 2019 to be exact. I walked down the aisle to Donald Glover’s cover of Tamia’s “ So into you.” The story behind that song; hubby sent it to me shortly after buying my engagement ring, unbeknownst to me at the time. I had never heard this version and lowkey decided at first listen it was my song. We honeymooned in Montego Bay. I turned 35 on November 23. We have baby fever but decided to start with a puppy.

I am looking forward to more growth, another child, new levels of love, understanding, intimacy and the possibilities of more creative ways to share the journey with all of you.

Muah!
